Allegroitalia Nazionale Volterra is situated in the heart of this beautiful Tuscan town with its enviable central location, staying here means that you can easily go on foot to discover Volterra, being less than fifty metres from the main square, Piazza dei Priori and from the Etruscan city gate, Porta all’Arco.
Breathe the charm of history through the eyes and works of distinguished guests, amongst which we can cite the English writer D.H. Lawrence and the Italian Gabriele D’Annunzio, whose description of Volterra as the “city of wind and boulders” is displayed on a plaque in the hotel entrance. In 1965, the Hotel Nazionale also hosted the crew of the cinematic masterpiece by Luchino Visconti “Vaghe stelle dell’Orsa” with the unforgettable actors Claudia Cardinale and Jean Sorel.
The Hotel Nazionale boasts the finest panoramic view from Volterra: where the sloping hills of the Val di Cecina right across to the sea can be admired. Leaving the car in the very conveniently located public car park just a few metres from the hotel, you will find the Hotel Allegroitalia Nazionale Volterra. It is a friendly, simple and relaxing hotel that boasts its own restaurant to complete the range of services the hotel offers and that allows you to enjoy the typical Tuscan traditions in all its various shades and forms.

40 rooms furnished in typical Tuscan style
One of the main characteristics of our rooms is their diversity: each of the 40 rooms at the Hotel Allegroitalia Nazionale Volterra differs from each other in the furnishings and layout, but all are welcoming and make our guests feel at home. All offer spacious bathrooms with either bath or shower.
Some of the rooms still present some of the original architectural features of the building such as high vaulted ceilings, others offer a splendid view over the hills towards the sea just 40 minutes away and others overlook the historic palazzi of Volterra including the tallest tower of the nearby Palazzo dei Priori, the oldest medieval town hall of Tuscany.
Rooms are divided into Standard, Classic, Superior, Comfort and Deluxe depending on the possibility of occupancy.
Traditional kitchen and pizza
The restaurant Burrata Bar situated next to the Hotel Allegroitalia Nazionale Volterra offers good typical Tuscan cuisine using fresh and seasonal ingredients, enhanced by a carefully selected wine list. The menu offers local dishes of game and with truffles when in season, (in particular in the autumn in conjunction with the prestigious gastronomical and wine event Volterragusto), typical soups and homemade pies. To please everyone, it is also possible to order pizza.
In the summer months, the restaurant has a small number of tables outside to enjoy a glimpse of the beautiful Piazza dei Priori and the superb sunsets that colour the surrounding area of the Val di Cecina. The restaurant at the Hotel Nazionale has a large dining room that can seat up to 110 people and is therefore particularly suitable for weddings, ceremonies, formal or work dinners.
The hotel also has a lounge bar, where you can meet friends or chat with the other guests to organise interesting excursions in the town of Volterra or to the other famous cities in the area.
