The Allegroitalia Nazionale Volterra Hotel is located inside an ancient historic building that became a hotel back in 1890. Its enviable central location allows you to comfortably explore Volterra on foot, as it is less than fifty meters from Piazza dei Priori and the Etruscan Porta all’Arco, the historic heart of this splendid Tuscan art city.
You will breathe in the charm of history through the eyes and works of illustrious guests, including the English writer D.H. Lawrence and Gabriele D’Annunzio, whose description of Volterra as a “city of wind and stone” is commemorated on a plaque at the hotel’s entrance. In 1965, the Hotel Nazionale also hosted the film crew of Luchino Visconti’s masterpiece “Vaghe stelle dell’Orsa,” starring unforgettable actors like Claudia Cardinale and Jean Sorel.

All rooms come with spacious bathrooms with a bathtub or shower. Some of the hotel’s rooms have preserved certain original architectural features of the building, such as high vaulted ceilings, while others have balconies with splendid views of the hills and the sea or ancient historic buildings in Volterra. Among these, the nearby Palazzo dei Priori stands out in height, the oldest medieval municipal palace in all of Tuscany. Traditional Recipes

The bread is freshly prepared every day by the chef using natural ingredients and no milk. Additionally, you can savor one of our specialties, gourmet potatoes.
